In 2011, Reyna Chavez started Scrubs on the Run. After years working in the healthcare field, she saw a need to offer hard-working medical professionals the ability to conveniently shop for unique and affordable uniforms. Reyna began traveling to local hospitals to sell scrubs from her car, until she established a formal retail presence with support from Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV).

A 2014 loan from WEV helped Reyna open her first location in Ventura, CA. This financing allowed her to quit her full-time job, hire her first employee, and completely focus on her business. Since then, she has participated in WEV’s business coaching programs and opened two additional locations in nearby Thousand Oaks and Oxnard. Despite challenges posed by COVID19, Reyna continues to grow her business steadily, exceeding $500,000 in revenue in 2019.

“It’s hard to imagine doing business without WEV by my side,” Reyna said. “Over the last seven years I have grown personally and professionally because of the impact WEV has had on me. During COVID-19, WEV has provided guidance and the emergency funding I needed to keep my business operating.”
